My client, a well regarded accounting firm, is looking for a VAT assistant for their Aberdeen office. This is an exciting opportunity in an expanding firm with a varied and entrepreneurial client base.
You must develop understanding of individual customer needs and concerns and take personal responsibility for resolving customer concerns. Provide timely advice to help clients understand their own needs and present this advice with solutions so that clients can assess implication prior to making decisions. You will act as an interface between the business and its clients when necessary and make clear recommendations for action. You will establish priorities, tasks and work schedules in advance including clarifying your responsibilities to anticipate business process or resource issues.
You must have several years experience in dealing with VAT returns, queries and HMRC. Your responsibilities will mainly be preparation / checking and submitting Vat Returns and dealing with HMRC queries. While being the first point of HMRC contact and compliance for VAT related issues. You will be responsible for all queries regarding day to day processing and liaise with financial colleagues to identify and understand any financial issues including identifying weaknesses in current practices and make recommendations. You must investigate VAT issues and queries from clients and colleagues and you will require a good knowledge of Flat Rate VAT, Input & output VAT and EC Sales Lists.
