As part of a restructuring exercise, Bristol Myers Squib is creating a Centre of Tax Excellence for their European operation and putting together a team of international tax specialists who will be based at their shared management centre in Chester. As part of this development and to complement the broad based skill set of the new team, they require an international tax lawyer.
Transactional in nature, the demands of the role are twofold; both supporting the business heads and finance teams of EMEA regional operating units on specific business transactions (such as acquisitions, restructuring, tax planning and transfer pricing) and also providing ongoing input into overall tax strategy. Central aspects of the role are to; ensure that tax legislation is properly applied; that tax strategy is implemented and that tax audits are driven across the region. You can expect to form part of operational management teams whilst working in close association with the tax team in the US. An awareness of the interaction of taxes within a global operating environment is key.
Ideal candidates will be qualified tax lawyers and will have exposure gained in either professional practice or a commercial organisation and experience of working on the tax issues relating to multinational clients or working within a multinational corporate environment. You will possess a high level of technical tax skill in a European context and be experienced in organising the demands of working on several concurrent projects. Additionally you will be adept at managing relationships and operating in an environment where business needs and demands can change at short notice.
Applications are invited from qualified lawyers from across Europe and fluency in an additional language, ideally French, Spanish, Italian or German, as well as English is preferred. As part of the package, Bristol Myers Squibb is offering full relocation costs.
This is one of the better calibre in-house positions for a tax lawyer for some time and if you are interested in this role and would like a full job specification or require additional information, please contact our retained consultant, Jim Halstead of Pro-Tax
