An exciting opportunity has arisen for a European VAT Manager to join the tax department of this diverse organisation and take ownership of overseeing local VAT and Indirect Tax compliance in Europe, with a principal focus on the UK and Belgium. You will share responsibility for VAT/GST, Customs Duties, and all other taxes as may be required.
Specifically, you will be required to assist in the following areas:-
* Research tax law questions that arise and act as in-house VAT advisor to explain legal ramifications to the company.
* Monitor and evaluate new and proposed global tax legislation, regulations, rulings and legal decisions, in relation to VAT, to identify their impact on the company.
* Together with the existing European VAT Manager, work to resolve outstanding indirect tax audits and queries, ensuring all documentation, accounting and processes are in order.
* Assist with and manage in-house compliance for UK indirect taxes.
* Working on regulatory matters, ensuring that all required legal compliance matters are identified and appropriately addressed in a timely manner.
Suitable candidates will be qualified, ideally possessing both professional tax and an accounting qualification, as well as having good interpersonal skills sufficient to function successfully in a highly visible and legally challenging position. Familiarity with European languages is preferred. Strong analytical skills and the ability to issue and propose viable solutions and handle multiple projects at one time will be expected. You will be confident to communicate effectively with different business units and will enthusiastically address a broad range of issues of varying degrees of complexity.
