This global banking leader with a reputation for excellence is now looking to expand its Global Funds Tax team with this newly created position.
In the post you will be responsible for supplying the product development team with information concerning the local taxation of the investment returns realised by new ETFs (withholding tax on income and tax on capital gains);
Collecting and maintaining information about changes to the on-going local taxation and the creation of tax efficiencies;
Overseeing the tax affairs of ETFs plc in Ireland (primarily VAT); Taxation of investors inВ ETS plc (UK reporting fund status, German tax reporting, EU Savings Directive;
Production of reports in relation to the above to the senior management of AMG and the Board of ETFs plc.

Local taxation of the investment returns of the ETFs

Working with the ETF service providers to gather information and news/updates regarding:
В
Rates of withholding tax on dividends (and any proposed changes);
Rates of tax on gains (and any proposed changes);
Local tax filing requirements for foreign investors in those jurisdictions;
Access by ETFs plc to the double tax treaty that territory may have with Ireland; and
Determining the FATCA position of the funds inВ ETFs plc and obtaining exemptions where appropriate.

Liaise with auditors, relevant AMG business units andВ internal tax to minimise VAT exposure.В Review the VAT returns ofВ ETFs plc for completeness and consistency with the VAT returns of Global Asset Management (UK) Limited to ensure that items are being properly treated and there is no double counting.

Taxation of investors inВ ETS plc

Make UK reporting fund status applications for new share classes/sub funds of ETFs plc;
Investigate and manage the determination of the impact of synthetic ETFs on the taxation of investors.

Collect information on the German tax reporting undertaken by AMDE and Big 4 and reporting that and the information on the UK status to the Board.

Other Global Funds related work

Make UK reporting applications for all other relevant Global Fund ranges.

Investigate and recommend strategies to minimise withholding tax costs in other Global Fund ranges
Ownership of the operational control for:

UK reporting fund status applications;
VAT returns of ETFs plc;
Reporting tax issues to the Board of ETFs plc;
Clearance of Audit tax issues for ETFs plc; and
Technical liaison with Securities Services in relation to withholding tax and local capital gains tax issues
Experience needed;
Knowledge of the operation and set up of investment funds;
Understanding and experience of UK distributor status or withholding tax and custody arrangements
Experience of communicating technical issues in a straightforward manner to senior management
