The Tax Consultant will be responsible for comprehensive tax compliance and reporting services to the EMEA and Asian entities. It is offered as a six months fixed term contract position.
The general responsibilities of this role will be as follows
* Preparation of tax computations.
* Dealing with correspondence with tax authorities & related compliance matters.
* Meeting statutory and internal deadlines.
* Fulfilling information requirements of US parent & other users of tax data within the group.
* Preparation of tax figures for statutory accounts.
* Quantifying tax payments, repayments, interest & group relief.
* Liaison with external auditors / tax advisors.
* Supporting the business on general tax matters.
* Internal communication within the Finance Team and the US Tax Team.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
* Strong project management skills and the ability to interface with all areas of the business across continents.
* Excellent Accountancy skills.
* Intellectual flexibility and capacity to deal with various issues and foreign taxation systems.
* Knowledge/Awareness of VAT will be beneficial.
* Awareness of overseas tax laws - e.g. double tax treaties.
* Experience in the preparation of tax notes in statutory financial statements and related UK tax returns and ideally but not essentially group/ management reporting.
* Given the interrelations with other legal matters, an awareness of the accounting implications, the regulatory implications, etc would be useful.
* Experience of working in a major financial services organization or a major accounting firm would be an advantage but is not mandatory.
Qualifications required:
University degree with supplementary tax/accountancy qualification like ACA/ACCA/CTA qualified (or equivalent).
Experience of Abacus tax software beneficial.
Interpersonal skills:
Candidates should demonstrate a proactive attitude with a strong ability to multitask and excellent communication skills. Working in a medium sized team you will have the opportunity to take ownership of key projects.
